CFS is developing an alternative magnetic confinement fusion method called a tokamak. In this design, D-shaped magnets generate robust fields to maintain plasma in a toroidal, doughnut-like loop. The company has continuously improved its magnet technology with the goal of generating electricity from Arc, its forthcoming commercial-scale reactor planned for construction in Virginia.
